Managed to play some on the PTR, amazing it didn't crash. Anyway, played on my Mage and Hunter for awhile to see how the new talents will work.
Hunter -- Can't say much except OMFG, I killed warlocks, shadow priests, and even poor warriors who managed to get the jump on me. Went heavy BM spec, got more damage out of it then i thought i would. The pet is amazing with the skills, pet solo killed a mage and ran a priest into the ground. Ranged damage comes from damage and speed modifiers from BM tree. My big old Bloodseeker was shooting at 2.38 speed averaging 400 to 700 white damage per shot. The arcane shot, multi shot, autoshot cycles just melted even warriors with there armor. Only class kinda difficult to kill was a feral druid. Betting hunters get a nerf soon, but we will have a short golden age again.
**Update, tried MM spec and while my RAP was higher, my overall damage didn't surpass the BM spec. Only reason to choose MM would be some talent based skills like silence shot, scatter shot, aimed shot. MM spec does scale with better gear then BM spec. Would suggest MM spec for hunters that have T2 or better gear, as you can hit 2000 point arcane and multishot crits.
Mage -- Went heavy ice spec with a little arcane on the mage. With +170 dmg, was pulling 700+ non crit ice bolts and 1500+ crits. The frost nova on the elemental wasn't working right either. Beware of other DPS classes like the rogue and hunter with your mage. With nearly 4000 hp, I was still 2 shot dead from rogues. Hunters could kill nearly as fast too. Warriors also weren't free kills anymore, have to work a little now to get the kill. On the bright side, warlocks didn't seem as overpowered as before, actually stand a chance against them now. Overall, I felt that mages could use a little buff in PVP. They should be even better in PVE with the increase in damage.
On honor collection, played a losing AB and a winning AV, got 39 HK's from both, and made about 618 honor from them(about 400 from the AV). Prices for 2 hand weaps went up to 45k honor and 40 marks and 1h weaps 22.5k and 20 marks. GM/FM armor averaged about 12k honor and 20 marks per item. This is an increase accross the board from what it was, and will probably be adjusted again as they tweak it before release.
Overall, the entire tempo of PVP has changed, things happen faster now then before. Everyone has more DPS at their fingertips to use. The best classes to be are the ones that can do some ranged dps or a combo of ranged, melee, heal.
Tried a little PVE too, seemed much easier and faster to kill various mobs.
Warrior Impression - The poor warrior with 5000 hp can't do a whole lot in the new PVP scheme, 8000 hp doesn't even help much. Despite complaints on wow forums, the rage generation issue isn't a problem. The problem is that ranged dps classes can kill you and cc you before you really have a chance to close the distance. Your armor doesn't do a thing for damage mitigation on most ranged attacks. The new function of warriors in PVP is to keep rogues and pets off your ranged dps people, draw fire from the enemy ranged dps, and tank the NPC mobs(AV).
Other classes - Druids, Shamans, Paladins, Warlocks, and Priests
These classes all seem to be doing pretty good as well, warlocks are a little less godlike. The only class to feel gimped is the warrior.
